Another hilarious and quality production by Director Peter Blyth and The Zodiac Players.

HOLD on to your bridal trousseaus Gympie.

After an absence of almost four years, the Zodiac Players have reformed and are rehearsing Dimboola, the wedding reception play, written by Jack Hibberd.

Dimboola will be staged from April 18-27 at the Senior Citizens Centre as a theatre restaurant.

Profits from the production will be shared with Little Haven Palliative Care.

Dimboola is said to be Australia’s most performed play, with more Australians having seen it than any other musical, comedy or play.

The play is the country celebration of the wedding of Morrie McAdam, a Protestant, to Reen Delaney, a Catholic.

No holds are barred as the two families come together for the wedding.

The family members try to preserve social form and dignity in the face of impending disasters. And disasters there are aplenty.

After the drink has flowed a little too freely, mayhem ensures when the families exchange insults and punches as they resolve to come to terms with the situation.

Dimboola’s appeal stems from its unique presentation of including the audience as wedding guests, sharing all the events and intimacies of Morrie and Reen’s big day.

When guests arrive at a performance of Dimboola, they are in for outrageous fun.

This is an adults’ only production.

Sixteen characters of all age groups make up the “bridal party from hell” and while one might not like to think that we are laughing at ourselves, we all know one or more of they characters portrayed or we have even been to a wedding just like Dimboola.

The cast is headed by well-known local actors including Brendan Allen, Daryl Dodt, Ken Welton and Tom Colley. Dimboola is directed by Peter Blyth.

It will be presented at the Senior Citizen’s Centre on April 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 and 27.

Admission is $55 which includes the show and a delicious three course “bridal breakfast”.

Bookings can be made at Kitch’n’things, 48 Mary St.
