Palliative Care Australia has just published a great article about Palliative Care Biography Services here . This is a wonderful article beautifully written by one of their Biography Volunteers.
Little Haven has also been offering this service to our patients for the past couple of years with some really heart warming responses to it. Our volunteer Graeme Chisolm visits patients in their homes on request, listening to their stories and presenting them with a booklet chronicling their life complete with pictures supplied. As a retired head master Graeme’s work is meticulously written and bring great joy to the patient and the family.
Graeme reports that for the patients this process of gathering the information is a really special time, revisiting the important times in their life, reminiscing over old photos and sharing their stories.
For both the patient and the families it is a wonderful keepsake and families have requested up to 20 copies of the booklets and often Graeme’s words can be heard echoed in the Patients Eulogies.
