BoQ Broncos Charity Golf Day
The Gympie Pines Golf Course
Friday 26 October 2012 at 7:30am to 4:00pm
Brisbane Broncos’ Ben Hannant and Michael Hancock will be in Gympie for the day – chipping in for charity along with Off the Bench Crew Ben Ikin, Mark Corvo & Paul Dyer hosting the post game lunch.
Players will have a chance of winning the $10,000 on offer for a hole-in-one on the day.
Bank of Queensland will sponsor the event for the second time and will put up the cash for golfers who can ace the 18th hole.
Now before you golfers start jumping up and down saying that’s impossible…….. the 18th hole will be made shorter for the competition to give golfers more of a chance to ace the hole.
It also will allow spectators a chance to enjoy the action by sitting on the clubhouse balcony that overlooks the 18th green.
Jellina White, owner-manager of Bank of Queensland Gympie, said the hole-in-one competition would be the culmination of the day.
During the 18 holes of golf in the morning there will be a competition for the nearest the pin shot on a par-three hole.
The player from each group who had the closest pin shots would compete for the major prize. “If we had 22 groups then we would have 22 people competing for the major prize,” White said. Organisers would then mark a spot 150m away from the 18th green as a tee-off point for the $10,000 hole-in-one.
The money will be split between little Haven Palliative Care and the Gympie Junior Development Program.
White said her involvement came through her association with junior league.
“It is a great way to raise funds for Little Haven and the junior development program,” she said. “They are both worthy causes.”
The golf day is set to be full of fun, along with meeting some of the Broncos’ best.
The tournament is a two-person Ambrose event and the cost is $85 per player.
That includes green fees, drinks and snacks on course, the $10,000 hole-in-one challenge, two-course sit-down lunch with a sporting guest speaker, charity auction, and multi-draw raffle ticket with a great prize pool on offer.
All players will go into the draw for a fabulous holiday at Rainbow Beach Breakfree Rainbow Shores resort .
Registration is at 7.30am and the day will hit-off with a shotgun start at 8am.
