It’s been a busy week raising funds to care for the dying!!
On Friday night we catered for 220 people at the Gympie Debutante Ball which was very generously and beautifully run by Sandra Williamson from Gympie Bridal with the help of Bronwyn Molloy. Raising around $10000 for Little Haven. What a gorgeous evening and lovely bunch of young people making their Debut, happy, well mannered and clearly just enjoying their night together. Their parents have every right to be very proud of them.
Today we were given the opportunity to raise funds by the GRC, catering for their seniors morning tea. What a pleasure to serve 320 of our older residents, many from aged care facilities and home care services. Well done Karney and Estelle and the GRC for this lovely morning. Little Haven will benefit by making around $2000 and funds were also raised for the Community Bus ?
Thank you LH volunteers. You are incredible working long hours without complaint, and completely unperturbed by the endless mountains of washing up.
But we couldn’t have coped without all of those generous people who rallied to our shout out for help. Kids and parents and Facebook friends and relatives of family members we’d looked after, people I’d never met showed up to lend a hand. You were beautiful today and my heart is full. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Tomorrow the Chapple St sheds are open from 8 – 12 and a different arm of our volunteers will be doing what they do – raising funds from community donations. Tireless in their support.
What a community!
Little Havens Calender of Events is vital for the sustainability of the organisation in raising funds to bridge the ever widening gap in Government funding for our services which are constantly being called on more often. Thank you to all the Businesses, Clubs and organisation who partner with us in these fundraising ventures.
As we come towards the end of the year so to we wind down our events with the last Shed Sale for 2016 this Saturday from 7am – 12 midday.
Please note we will continue our weekly sales at the sheds on Wednesday’s from 8am – 12 noon until Wednesday Dec 14th after which the sheds will be closed for a one month break reopening on Wednesday the 18th Jan 2017. Our volunteers are taking a well deserved break. There will be no pick ups or provision for dropping donations off during that months break.
Monster Booksale in full swing. The Senior Citizens Hall in Gympie is bustling with bookworms. Plenty of craft and plants also making their way to new homes along with loads of books. Well done Karen and scores of volunteer helpers doing their finest work for Little Haven. Come on down and enjoy this lovely weekend with us.
