Thank You Lions Club of Gympie South Members

Last Saturday night the Lions Club of Gympie South held it’s 39th Annual Changeover Dinner and Brandy Murley and Sue Manton were invited along as representatives of Little Haven. All funds raised by the clubs hardworking members are distributed annually back into our local community or used to support other charitable needs/events, including the many very worthwhile projects undertaken by Lions International.

The presentation of cheques for funds raised in 2018/2019 of over $30,000 was done so beautifully, with club member/emcee Sherryl Polley relaying with great warmth the work of each of the community organisation represented.

To quote Brandy, “there’s something really special hearing the Little Haven story, told in a different voice.” It brings a flush of pride, as I’m sure it did for all the representatives of the many wonderful charitable groups the club distributed donations to on the night.

It was our pleasure to represent Little Haven and express our gratitude to the clubs members for their generosity of spirit in supporting our community. Little Haven was presented with $2000 to assist our teams work in the coming year.

We enjoyed sharing our table and exchanging ideas with Cos Schuh representing Wishlist, Geoff representing the Community Bus, Ian Groundwater representing Riding for the Disabled and Meals on Wheels and Lions Members Dudley Fisher and Graeme Elphinstone.

Congratulations to Bob Bland and members on a successful year despite adversities and a heartfelt thank you for your generous donation. We acknowledge, as you did the passing of much loved member Joan Albrecht. Joan was certainly missed on Saturday night and our thoughts were with Gary and family.

This year Little Haven will also celebrate our 39th year and throughout our history the support received from Gympie’s service clubs has laid the foundation for us to grow and evolve to meet the community needs. Our founder Phyllis Little would have been as honoured attending your fledgling clubs changeover dinners all those 39 years ago, as we are today. On behalf of everyone at Little Haven, we wish you all the best for the coming year with incoming President Lion Debbie Kratzman at the helm.
