“2014 Gympie Rotary Quilt and Craft Spectacular” – Aug 2nd & 3rd

The Rotary Club of Gympie is proud to, once again, present an impressive showcase of contemporary, inspirational and traditional quilts and craft, with some great surprises thrown into the mix.

Come along and see if you agree with the judge’s  choice of “Best of Show” ($500 Prize), sponsored by a sponsor, “People’s Choice” ($200 Prize) sponsored by a sponsor and Highly Commended and Commended Awards.

 Qld Quilters – Challenge Quilts

A major travelling exhibition has been secured to be exhibited throughout the weekend. Comprising of 49 quilts, the challenge had entrants competing across three sections – amateur, junior and professional.

Focusing around a fabric theme, the challenge features the print pictured right, from the Imperial Collection 7 by Robert Kaufman. Guidelines involve creating a 50cm x 70cm quilt using any quilting technique, manipulation and embellishment, with at least 20% of the finished quilt featuring the selected challenge fabric.

Crafters Markets

Over 40 stalls in the venue offer a huge range of craft supplies, the best in materials and fabrics, notions, books, beads…. everything for the quilter, artist and home sewer.

Auction:  Saturday August 2, commencing noon

Raising funds for Little Haven Palliative Care, this auction, conducted by a leading professional auctioneer, will include a range of quality items: antiques; collectibles; furniture; period items; china and glassware; diverse household goods and more. Some items with reserves. Some donated items , some sold on commission.

This year, the event will expand to include a SATURDAY GROWERS, MAKERS, VINTAGE & COLLECTIBLES OPEN-AIR MARKET.

Enjoy a selection of fresh and tasty local produce straight from the farm; local artisans offering their special craft; an alluring mix of fine old things, memorabilia and preloved treasures to delight collectors, bargain hunters and Sunday strollers.

COUNTRY CAFE… delicious indulgences

Enjoy morning/afternoon tea, a very naughty cake with a hot cappuccino or a relaxing cuppa with a delicious country lunch. The cafe operates all day on both days of the event. No bookings required…. and definitely no diets!
